چکیده

The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector is described. The detector operates at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. It was conceived to study proton-proton (and leadlead) collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 14 TeV (5.5 TeV nucleon-nucleon) and at luminosities up to 1034 cm−2s−1 (1027 cm−2s−1). At the core of the CMS detector sits a high-magneticfield and large-bore superconducting solenoid surrounding an all-silicon pixel and strip tracker, a lead-tungstate scintillating-crystals electromagnetic calorimeter, and a brass-scintillator sampling hadron calorimeter. The iron yoke of the flux-return is instrumented with four stations of muon detectors covering most of the 4π solid angle. Forward sampling calorimeters extend the pseudorapidity coverage to high values (|η | ≤ 5) assuring very good hermeticity. The overall dimensions of the CMS detector are a length of 21.6 m, a diameter of 14.6 m and a total weight of 12500 t.

Beyond Standard Model Higgs Boson Physics at the CMS Experiment

Searches for Beyond Standard Model (BSM) Higgs bosons at the CMS experiment are presented. The analyses are based on proton-proton collision data recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC at CERN at 7 TeV and 8 TeV centre-of-mass energies in the years 2011 and 2012 respectively, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of up to 25 fb−1. No evidence for additional Higgs bosons other than the 12...

ترکش مزونهای سنگین در LHC

Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN will provide excellent opportunity to study the production and decay of heavy mesons and baryons with high statistics. We aim at the heavy mesons in this work and calculate their fragmentation functions consistent with this machine and present their total fragmentation probabilities and average fragmentation parameters.

Higgs Physics Review of recent results and prospects from ATLAS and CMS

An overview of recent results in Higgs boson physics obtained with the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider located at CERN, Geneva, is presented. The focus is on measurements of the properties of the recently discovered Higgs boson with a mass of about 125 GeV. A brief selection of results in searches for Higgs bosons beyond the Standard Model is given, and prospects of futur...

The archive solution for distributed workflow management agents of the CMS experiment at LHC

The CMS experiment at the CERN LHC developed the Workflow Management Archive system to persistently store unstructured framework job report documents produced by distributed workflow management agents. In this paper we present its architecture, implementation, deployment, and integration with the CMS and CERN computing infrastructures, such as central HDFS and Hadoop Spark cluster. The system l...

Physics with Jets at the Lhc ∗

The CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is designed to study pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 14 TeV and luminosity of 10cms. The GHz collision rate with 20 interactions per 25 ns bunch crossing places unprecedented demands on detector performance. This report will concentrate on jet physics anticipated from the two big general purpose detectors, a toroidal large hadron collider apparat...

Capabilities of the CMS detector for studies of hard probes in heavy ion collisions at the LHC

The capabilities of the CMS experiment to study properties of hot and dense QCD-matter created in heavy ion collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider with the perturbative processes (socalled ”hard probes”) are presented. Detailed studies from complete simulations of the CMS detectors in Pb+Pb collisions at √ s = 5.5 TeV per nucleon pair are presented in view of two hard probes: quarkonium a...
